How Deep is Your Subgenre

Nowadays there are so many subgenres on the store shelves, it's almost impossible to find a book that is “just” fantasy. Is it necessary to focus the market so tightly? Is there no room for a broad genre type in the modern market? And what if we don't have a name for what we've written?
