Star Wars Books: Legends and Canon
Let's talk about the literature of that galaxy long ago and far, far away. What has been lost for Star Wars fans, now that the Expanded Universe has been reclassified as Legends? And what has been gained through the new works published as Canon? How did the Journey to the Force Awakens publications pave the way for the record-breaking film release? How are related texts now enhancing our understanding of the new era of Star Wars and ushering new generations into the fandom? What do today's Star Wars books (for children, young adults, and adults) tell us about the long-term vision of the LucasFilm Story Group? And, last but not least, is Star Wars literature "good" SF/F (whatever that means)?

SCA Crown Tournament of Anarchia
Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)
Crown Tournament of Anarchia

Anarchia is a fictional SCA Kingdom from John Ringo’s Council Wars Scifi
Series. The series is set in the far future, just after the fall of civilization.
Each year, at ConCarolinas, SCA fighters compete in a tournament to
become the new King of Anarchia. John Ringo himself has seen the
tournament, and in the past, presented the Crown to the winner.
The SCA turns 50 years old this year, with chapters all over the world. SCA
combat is exciting, full contact, and un-choreographed. The object in SCA
combat is to strike your opponent with a blow hard enough that your
opponent feels it would have killed or wounded them depending on where it
landed. Legal target areas are anywhere 1 inch above the knees and 1 inch
above the wrist.
The tournament will last an hour, with the winner of each fight staying on
the field and fighting the next fighter ready to come onto the tourney field.
Should a fighter win 3 fights in a row, then he leaves the field and the next
2 combatants take the field. Come, see the glory that is armored SCA
combat!!
