Tamsin Silver

New York, NY
My pen name is Tamsin Silver and I'm originally from Michigan, though I currently live in New York City. I did a brief stint here in the south (10 years) where I graduated from Winthrop University with a BA in Theatre (Performance & Directing emphasis) with a minor in English (Shakespeare & Creative Writing emphasis). I've run a few theatre companies in my time and I was a performer for around 20 years...but my first love was story telling, so that's where I am now. I've always loved YA books and Urban Fantasy is my favorite genre, so that's what I currently write (Windfire book series and Skye of the Damned web series). However, after releasing a new book (in a new series!) this fall (Mark of the Necromancer), I'll be branching out and working on a Historical Fantasy novel and I couldn't be more excited! I've always loved weaving real history into my stories, now I'll get to do that on a bigger scale.

As far as what to talk to me about?

Well...for one, World Building is sort of my thing. I didn't know that, btw, until all the notes on things I wrote for my writers group got the same comment, "Great world building!" It's funny how others see your strengths when you do not. It's also the reason I'm crappy at writing short stories, though. LOL!

What else...I'd say talking strong female characters is another item I am always game to chat on. Best review I ever got was, "Silver is a champion for strong, sexy, female heroes. She brings female protagonists out of the Bella ages and back to the world of Buffy and Faith."

Oh, yeah, we can talk Joss Whedon all day. For that matter, we can discuss Sherlock Holmes (BBC), or Benedict Cumberbatch, or Tom Hiddleston, or acting, or filming, or writing for film, or writing a male protagonist for the first time. All things I'm game to talk about.

Last, but not least, if you know anything about or LOVE the Wild West, Billy the Kid, New Mexico, or The Lincoln County War...DO come find me to chat!!!! -----and pick up my new short story, The Curse of Scáthach! :)
